Posting from the EEA and Switzerland

Special rules apply to cross-border services. The Posted Workers in the European Union (Working Conditions) Act (WagwEU) applies to foreign employers from the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland who temporarily carry out an assignment with their staff in the Netherlands.

The Posted Workers in the European Union (Working Conditions) Act entitles posted workers to the most important employment conditions that the Netherlands offers. These are for example the right to a minimum wage, sufficient breaks, a healthy and safe workplace, equal treatment of men and women and a minimum number of holidays.

In addition, foreign workers have a number of administrative obligations, such as reporting. In some sectors, this also applies to the self-employed. The report makes it easier for the government to check if companies obey the rules.
