You must notify the Netherlands Labour Authority of diving operations 5 working days before they start.
This applies to diving operations carried out under one or more of the following conditions:
- deeper than 9 metres
- in a current faster than 0.5 metres per second
- with planned decompression
- using a breathing gas other than air
- over a period of more than a week (even if diving does not take place every day during that period)
- for the underground mining industry
- to extract minerals by drilling
To notify us of diving operations, you will need eHerkenning or a Netherlands Labour Authority account. You can carry out the work provided that you notify us of it within the required notice period. You do not need to wait for approval.
Diving team
A diving team consists of several people. The team includes one or more divers in the water, with one or more standby divers, a dive team leader and a dive medical supervisor at the surface. The diving team leader may also act as the dive medical supervisor. State who makes up the diving team in your notification.
Diving courses and training dives
There is no need to report diving operations carried out as part of a diver training course. After completing their training, registered divers make regular training dives to maintain their skills. A training dive carried out under one or more of the above conditions must be reported.
Urgent operations
Some diving operations are urgent, which means it is not possible to give 5 working days' notice. In that case, notify us of the work as soon as possible. If the urgency makes advance notification impossible, notify us after the diving operations.
Mining, wind farms and mineral extraction
Notify the State Supervision of Mines (SodM) of diving operations for mining, wind farms and mineral extraction via info@sodm.nl.
