Company doctor/occupational health and safety service

A good approach to healthy and safe working starts with a good health and safety policy. A health and safety expert (company doctor or occupational health and safety service) can help you establish a health and safety policy.

Why engage a company doctor or occupational health and safety service?

Under the Working Conditions Act (Arbowet), you must engage a certified health and safety expert to:

  • advise on and review your Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RI&E). If a company has fewer than 26 employees, it can use a recognised industry-wide RI&E. This does not need to be validated.
  • sickness absence guidance
  • periodic occupational medical examination
  • pre-appointment health checks

In addition, you can also turn to the occupational health and safety service or company doctor for advice on prevention and sustainable employability.
